Standing Napkin Ring Fold
The Standing Napkin Ring Fold lends a certain dignity to an occasion. This is a great fold for oversized napkin rings. This fold requires more steps than most folds, but it is worth the extra effort. It does not require exceptionally stiff linen; however, very loose material may not have the desired effect.
Begin by laying the napkin flat out on the table.
Make a diagonal fold, gripping the lower right and bringing it up to meet the upper left corner.
Turn the napkin so that the open corner is facing up.
Swing the lower right corner to meet the peak at the top.
Do the same with the left side. There should now be a straight line from north to south of a diamond shape.
Flip the cloth over so that the diamond shape is in the back.
Fold the left side to the middle of the napkin.
Do the same for the right side.
Bring the open corner down to the middle as well. Depending on how you flipped over the napkin, this may be at the top or bottom of the napkin.
In this case the open part was at the top. We have spun it around to put it on the bottom for the sake of convenience.
Roll both sides tightly to the middle.
To finish, stuff the bottom of the napkin into the napkin ring.
